It has been an average year for numbers of migrating Monarch butterflies. I have more flowering plants than in previous years (Gregg's mistflower, purple porterweed, and others). There's a lot of tropical milkweed here that I cut back at the end of summer; but some blooms restarted. Oct 13 was the first day I saw more than one here, one there. Oct 26 & 27 was the peak, with as many as 10 at any one time. There's also Gulf Fritillaries from my 2 passionfruit vines, giant swallowtails, Queens, sulfurs, and American snouts from last month's local explosion.
I went to the San Antonio Botanical Garden on Oct 26 and there were 100's.
